I speak not only as a USC Grad, but as a Resident of El Paso, and the father of two teenage boys. There's no way I can apologize for SC's behavior to fellow residents of my town, especially to those El Paso Residents who are also Grads from other Pac 12 schools or schools that compete against USC. It's even harder to explain the unsportsmanlike conduct to my sons who love to follow and watch College Football, but prefer to play and excel in Soccer. Hard feelings over loses and unjust penalties frequently come up in their Soccer Tournaments. USC's hard feelings over the Non-BCS Sun Bowl does not help in showing young athletes how to deal with the consequences of their loses. At this point I only wish that USC had turned down the Sun Bowl invitation. Like I tell my kids when they're team is relegated to 2nd, 3rd or No Place, you gotta take the loses with the wins. Sure it's hard to lose, but show some class when it happens. In SC's case, be the "Top-Ranked University Students" you're supposed to be. Unfortunately, that's too late. The damage has been done and all you can do now is "damage control." No other Pac-12 school that has played in the Sun Bowl has team members that have slighted our Border City like SC. Oregon State put on the best performance, including Alumni, who in their spare time, went across the border to help repair houses in the poorest communities. It was enough to get us out to their Sun Bowl Game a few years ago, where we saw them having a real good time. Go Beavers! Now, where is Pete Carroll playing this weekend?more2012-12-27T23:57:23.577Z
