The New York Times Subscription Spamgate
How Twitter helped clarify a spam email attack. (That later turned out not to be spam.)
- At around 1:30 p.m. (EST) on Dec. 28, many email inboxes were filled with an alleged email from The New York Times. The email said the user's home subscription to the paper had been cancelled and offered a 50 percent discount for 16 weeks to resubscribe. The Twitterverse immediately erupted.
