  2. Day 1: Intro to Digital Art History | History of the Venetian Ghetto

  3. June 8 - We welcomed the participants--16 graduate students and postdocs from around the world--to Venice International University for the #VisualizingVenice workshop.
  4. We opened the workshop with a discussion of #digitalarthistory, what it constitutes, and its relationship to #digitalhumanities. We introduced a variety of visualization techniques and types of research problems that these methods can address.
  5. In the afternoon, we heard a lecture from Ludovica Galeazzo on the history of the Venetian Ghetto, viewing for the first time a number of primary source materials that will prove crucial to our research projects later in the workshop.
  6. Day 2: Intro to 3D Modeling

  7. June 9 - We dove right into visualization, discussing 3D modeling techniques and considerations for historical modeling. We explored SketchUp and learned the basics of photogrammetry data acquisition.
