The Third Edition: June 12th, 2011
Canuck Fans, The Art of Marketing and The Road To Discovery Coffee. PLUS- One Local Restaurant is Hiring Customers! All this and tonnes of other exclusive content to help you stay on top of the information and insights that matter most to small business owners and other local Victoria lovers!
This was an incredible week of inspiration. As you will see in this week's edition, old ideas and notions about how people will communicate and be successful in business are going the way of the wooly mammoth; which also happens to be my daughter's favourite part of the fabulous Royal British Columbia Museum.
It's incredible to think that one day my own "new ideas" will seem just as antiquated and out-dated as the ones I rally against today!
You gotta love this life.Like it or lump it, you can't look at the local landscape and not be affected by the incredible ride of The Vancouver #Canucks.
With many true (and a slew of new) fans flocking to share the roller-coaster ride of hockey heart-aches and cup-crazy celebrations, the bottom lines of many local businesses are rising and falling alongside them. Some hope the fun will never end while others tend empty rooms, desperately praying for things to return to normal? Whatever side you're on, only one thing's for certain; it's all about to end.
Go Canucks.- Thanks to BC Photog Wannabe for sharing this great local flavoured picture illustrating the breadth of hockey madness that has swept over the entire province!
- This is a new section of The #SEP that I'm most excited about. Every week I will be looking to interview a local small business owner from here in our wonderful city and featuring them in my new podcast, Off The Beaten Path: A Walking Podcast.
This week it was a great pleasure to take Off The Beaten Path down to the original Discovery Coffee in downtown Greater Victoria to speak with one of the local owners, Logan Gray. - If you or someone you know would be interested in sharing your local small business story in this weekly feature, please email connect@thesundayeveningpost.com or call (250) 507-7819.
- In honour of all our local high-school graduates and students throughout college and universities eying the landscape of opportunities, this is a classic.
I was fortunate enough to have been given two complimentary VIP passes by one of the speakers, Mitch Joel, to attend The Art of Marketing on Thursday at The Centre For Performing Arts in Vancouver. It was like a rock concert for marketing with such heavy-hitting industry insights being presented from the stage by Mitch Joel, William Taylor, Avinash Kaushik, Gary Vaynerchuk and Guy Kawasaki.
Here's are some highlights courtesy of other Twitter users who attended the day-long event.
