Who should be the next Wisconsin coach?

I asked people on Twitter who - realistically - do they want as the next UW coach. For the sake of argument, taking Paul Chryst, Dave Doeren and Barry Alvarez out of the choices.

  1. @dave_heller Ash because he knows recruits and would keep current staff in place (ostensibly at least)
  2. @dave_heller I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Chris Ash get the job permanently. His defense took huge strides this year.
  3. .@dave_heller I think Bob Bostad would be a good choice. Before he left, he headed up the core of #Badger football: O-line & RBs. #Badgers
  4. @dave_heller Tucker - College experience, UW Grad, Pro coordinator experience - High profile guy
  5. @dave_heller Darrell Bevell. He'd be a good fit for a team built to run a pro style offense.
  6. @dave_heller Tucker. A lot of pro and college experience, defensive guy, and seems like he would be a good recruiter
  7. @dave_heller the best proven recruiter available, who plays by the rules, carries self with class and makes alums proud.
  8. @dave_heller Tressel, just to shove it in the Ohio State's face, plus he knows #B1G, good recruiter
  9. @dave_heller Darrell Bevell. Wisconsin ties, NFL is on his résumé. Smart guy.
  10. @dave_heller how about Mel Tucker...UW connection, NFL experience.
  11. @dave_heller Bobby Petrino. Just a thought. Ran clean programs, winner can recruit really well. Down side: he sucks as a human being.
  12. @dave_heller Bob Diaco or Darrell Bevell. Barry former Notre Dame assistant and Darrell Bevell from the NFL, former UW assistant
  13. @dave_heller I go with darrell bevell, Wisconsin background and guy who has continue to grow in his football career. #RosebowlChampion
  14. @dave_heller Chris Petersen because he's done a lot with what was originally very little. Can't be easy to recruit but he's done it.
  15. @dave_heller Jim Tressel, even with the strict penalties included in his first year. Not only a god coach, but would keep a big name around
  16. @dave_heller I wouldn't mind seeing Mel Tucker. Former UW player that experienced success here, coached under Nick Saban and has NFL ties.
  17. @dave_heller reading about Mel Tucker. Younger coach, NFL experience, former Badger, defensive guy. Interesting hire for sure.
  18. @dave_heller 1. Chris Peterson (Good coach and recruiter), 2. Pat Narduzzi (Knows BIG, knows D) 3. Jeff Tedford (Knows QBs)
  19. @dave_heller just for consideration how about Childress? Not sexy but deep ties to UW but less logical than Bevell I guess
  20. RT @schmidtkej: @dave_heller I wouldn't mind seeing Mel Tucker. Former UW player that experienced success here, coached under Nick Saban and has NFL ties.
  21. @dave_heller darrell bevell. NFL coaching experience. Badger. Ability to recruit QB.
  22. @dave_heller An assistant coach, preferably Ash or Partridge. Would like to see assistants get rewarded for sticking with program.
  23. @dave_heller Charlie Partridge. Recruits FL well, has leadership position on staff as it is, ability to "coach up" players.
