Players React to NCAA Sanctions

At 9 a.m. today, NCAA president Mark Emmert announced sanctions against Penn State in the wake of the release of the Freeh report, including a $60 million fine, 4-year bowl ban, reduction of scholarships, and wins from 1998-2011 set to be vacated. Here's how football players responded on Twitter.

  1. Former players sounded off on the sanctions:
  2. ah crap... so i lost every college football game i ever played in?
  3. I can only imagine what the current players are going through. Tough decisions to make.
  4. So I went 0-53 in college? My big ten championship rings say different.
  5. They can take away whatever games they want to, I know I was apart of win 400 409 and all the other games WE won while at PSU
  6. ...as did current players, who -- in accordance with the announced NCAA sanctions -- will technically be free to transfer if they so desire.
  7. The only thing I can do is what I have control of. Right now that is killin this morning lift #LetsWork
  8. so I've lost every game I've played in... HA yeah right.
  9. And I stand by my statement yesterday... I'm not going anywhere, Penn State forever! #WeAre
  10. I know what games we won and so doesn't the teams we spanked
  11. I'm not going anywhere We Are Penn State forever. That's final!! Love this University, more important I bleed Blue & White!!
  12. Recruits also tweeted following the announcement, though their messages were a bit more cryptic than those of the former and current players.
  13. We will not be making any comments regarding Penn State or Adam's recruitment at this time. Thank you. -Brian Breneman
  14. One of the roughest days of my life and it just started.
  15. If you plan on calling me/texting me about this today...STILL NO COMMENT.
