Extreme Byte night 2012

4 men, 474 miles, one night. Via tube, train and car (in pyjamas and slippers)

  1. So after two tube rides, a train journey and 532 miles in the car we finally head off to the airport for our plane ride home. What we've seen over the last 12 hours has been amazing and inspiring.
  2. The fantastic work of the regional boards has made Byte Night into a UK wide event that is well on the way to making £1m in a single night.  Thank you everyone we met along the way.
  3. As Vinny Jones would say:-  "It's been emotional"
  4. Arrived safely in Edinburgh after a short, sat nav instigated detour into a dead end. Rescued by byte night team talking us in via old fashioned phone. Drank irn-bru, ate McDonald's, interviewed dry people in a very cold but beautiful location.
  5. We made it to Scotland! Very glad to see this sign at an ungodly hour of the morning.
  6. Still some way to go.
  7. Latest position, Bazza back at the wheel now so we've picked up speed again. Extreme #bytenight pic.twitter.com/PFBpYDlH
  8. 2am in the services and he's still blogging. This man will stop at nothing to bring you the news! Extreme #bytenight pic.twitter.com/4Oj2NgFh
  9. We are the only people in pyjamas in here, actually we are the only people in here #ByteNight yfrog.com/mo388wej
  10. On occasion we're overtaking other road users although few and far between. It's still raining, I'm checking the distance to go every 10 minutes and asking the driver "are we nearly there yet?" Could be a long night...
  11. 285 miles to go. Toto blasting on the stereo, we're eating up the miles in the Meriva. Doesn't get any better than this Extreme #bytenight
  12. Anthony driving now, a little more sedate but that could be because Patrick now has his laptop plugged into the cigarette lighter socket. He's still blogging like mad though so watch out for his next post about our visit to Cambridge.
  13. A bit concerned that apple maps says the last section of our journey requires walking?
  14. Interviewed the ARM team. Amazing, last year 12 sleepers, this year 23, raised a fantastic total and we just heard that the overall number is now £700,000 which is incredible for this time of the night.
  15. We've arrived early so just in time to see the final briefing before the teams head out to the sleep out area. It's just started to rain though so not ideal...
  16. We were filmed by the camera crew arriving and Patrick took the opportunity to get himself interviewed. He's very excited about connecting to the wifi as the data connection in a fast moving, high performance car is virtually non existent.
