#CTL5: Convince Nanci to vote!
Nanci Munroe has several reasons not to vote. Most unique: Hawaii is six hours behind the East Coast. National results are announced before she goes to the polls. Send her a message encouraging her to vote -- and tag it #CTL5. The best will be showcased here. Thanks!
- It seems unfair how that one time when you went to go vote the President was already elected. Well how about you try and make a change this time and vote earlier, so your vote can count. Also, spread the word to all Hawaiian citizens and tell them to go out and vote as early as possible to make a change in our Country.
- Nancy people all over the world have died for the right to vote, as did people in our country. As a woman in particular you shouldn't take that right for granted, esp in this election where things like the right to have an abortion, access to preventative care for women and equal pay for women are on the line. This is going to be a close election...like 2008 or more so and I know when you went to bed in 2008 it wasn't determined b/c it took several days for that decision to be made. I would imagine that there are other things on Hawaii's ballet that may hit closer to home to you... get engaged, educate yourself...YOUR and other people you love as well as other women future depends on it!
- okay- in a state that saw such blood shed in order to protect our freedom - they run from having a say in our government? People who do not vote tend to be the biggest critics of government and the country - if you choose not to vote - then keep your opinions to yourself - because the BEST opinion you can voice is at the voting booth. I am proud to be living in a free country where I can vote and have a voice. I choose to exercise that right as often as I can. To be silent in the voting booth is to walk away from our country and not care.

- RT @TonedOut1985: Hey #CTL5 even though Hawaii lags behind so much in the timezone, this race may be close enough for even Hawaii's votes to be needed.

Many people feel like their vote doesn't count because their state is either "Red" or "Blue" and they either aren't or they are counting on everyone else's vote to take care of their wishes. But, if everyone chose not to vote for those reasons, we'd be in a big mess! My final thought for you is that women fought for centuries to have a real voice, to have power. Whenever I don't vote, I feel as though I'm letting down all my great grandmothers and their mothers and grandmothers. So, when I don't feel like doing it for me, I do it for them because they didn't get to.more2012-10-25T00:30:17.641Z

So yes, even if the media have decided that the election for President is over, there are still other things that you need to help decide. For example, this year, there is a closely contested Senate race in Hawaii. Your vote in this race is extremely important and could possibly decide which party controls the Senate. And in addition, there are other state and local issues on the ballot. So even if that one race is believed to be over, go vote for the other races.more2012-10-24T22:36:36.644Z

But, the election is not over until the last vote...@CTL5 You may feel that as the last state whose votes are tallied, that the election is over before you vote. But, the election is not over until the last vote is recorded. And, we still have the antiquated Electoral College. It made since in the 18th century, he does not in the 21st. I would like to present you with two facts that may send you running to the polls to vote. Ronald Reagan was elected by less than 25% of the eligible electorate. This means that 50% or less of eligible voters took the time to vote. Had those 50% voted, Reagan and George H Bush may never have served 12 years in office. It would possibly be a second term for Carter and two terms for Mondale. In 2000, George W Bush lost the popular vote but won the electoral college. Most voters cast their vote for Gore. But, with hanging chads and an obstructed recount of the key state of Florida, George W Bush got the majority of Electoral College votes and became president. So, when you are thinking that the election is over when the east coast outcome is predicted, go as fast as you can to your polling place and cast your vote for your choice of president. Give him the full number of votes he deserves and the full number of Electoral College votes. The east coast could wake up the next day to find that the west coast, Alaska and Hawaii had overturned the predictions of the pollsters. I believe in my life time there was a time that no results were released until the last polls closed, or perhaps it is because every election I hear a commentator say that no predictions should be made before the last vote is cast. Despite which candidate you support, they deserve and need your vote. Do not let the country east of the Mississippi determine this election!more2012-10-24T20:58:44.655Z
