Cruise ship passengers, family vent frustration online

As the 4,229 passengers and crew stuck on a filthy Carnival Triumph cruise ship finally headed toward shore and regained cell phone service, they flocked to social media to shared their frustrations and concerns with the ordeal.

  1. Twitter user Brooke Carico described the trip as "an amazing life-changing experience." She said her 69-year-old mother and 13-year-old daughter, seen here in a photo last Thursday, joined her on the cruise.
  2. Haley Meyer, a high school junior in Midlothian, Texas, fired off a series of tweets as the Triumph began its slow trek toward shore.
  3. Never thought I'd say this, I want to be home in Midlo!!!
  4. Made tents outside. Barely any food, 3 hour lines.
  5. At approximately 2:00 p.m. ET Thursday, the tug line between one of the rescue tug boats and the Triumph broke. It was replaced around 3:30 p.m. ET.
  6. And now our tugboat is broken, CAN I JUST GET OFF
  7. Instagram user Kaitlin Robertson showed how hallways became bedrooms, as it was too hot to sleep in passenger cabins.
  8. And with working outlets at a premium, passengers flocked to the few power strips that had electricity, she said.

  10. Meanwhile, friends and family of passengers shared their concern and anticipation of seeing loved ones again.
  11. Many of the tweets were from teens and young adults waiting to be reunited with their parents.

  16. Twitter user Bethany Fasnacht was overjoyed to see land for the first time just after 4 p.m. ET Thursday.
