1. Officials said the smoke had dissipated by 12:50 p.m. No significant injuries were reported.
  2. Authorities set up a 1,000-foot cordon and evacuated the surrounding area after the explosion. Officials determined it was likely that the smoke contained methyl chloride and advised people to avoid contact with the smoke.
  3. "It has not been determined that the smoke contained methyl chloride," Eglin officials said in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon. "However, the incident occurred in an area within close proximity of said chemical."
  4. People exposed to methyl chloride can suffer from severe neurological effects, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. It can also affect a person's heart rate, blood pressure, liver and kidneys.
  5. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
