1. Singletary scored his first big hits in country music in the mid-1990s with songs like the tender “I Let Her Lie,” the fun-loving romp “Too Much Fun” and the stone cold country hit “Amen Kind of Love,” which all made the top 5 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Although chart success had eluded him in recent years, Singletary was still in demand as a performer and maintained an active touring schedule, taking his traditional country sound on the road.

    In late January, he participated in the memorial service for country music legend Mel Tillis at the Ryman Auditorium. He had also been scheduled to perform in Dadeville, Alabama, as recently as Feb. 9, and in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Feb. 10.

  2. Singletary hailed from Cairo, Georgia. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, after high school and began his country music career by performing at open mic nights and by singing demos.

    Singletary is survived by his wife, Holly; 7-year-old twin boys, Mercer and Jonah; 5-year-old daughter Nora Carolina and 3-year-old daughter Charlotte Rose.

    No details have been released regarding Singletary’s cause of death.
