- This morning, we are going to be sharing some information from our @American_Heart cardiopulmonary resuscitation #CPR class. #SaveaLife
- When someone's heart stops bleeding, blood stops pumping through the body. #CPR can help keep it flowing. #SaveaLife
- The first compressions in #CPR are the more important. Switch at least every 2 minutes if a second rescuer is available. #SaveaLife
- #CPR compressions should be in the middle of the sternum and pushing down far. The beat to "Staying Alive" is the right speed. #SaveaLife
- Next step in #CPR is airway. Open the airway by tilting the head back. A set is 30 compressions and 2 breaths. #SaveaLife
- #CPR compressions in infants should be 1.5 inches. In adults, 2 inches. Make sure to send someone to call 911 before you start. #SaveaLife
- #CPR starts by making sure the location is safe, calling for help & asking for an automated external defibrillator (AED). #SaveaLife
- AEDs for #CPR are in schools, malls, ballparks, airports, etc. They have simple instructions & should be used right away. #SaveaLife
- If the person is wet from a pool/rain, dry them before applying AED #CPR pads. Also, if needed, there should be a razor for hair. #SaveaLife
- If blood/vomit is on the face, & you are uncomfortable doing the breathing part of #CPR, you can just do compressions nonstop. #SaveaLife
- If you hear cracking or breaking while doing #CPR compressions, don't stop. Broken bones can be fixed, a life is more important. #SaveaLife
- No one is perfect in doing #CPR. It is a stressful situation. The law protects you as long as you are trying to #SaveaLife. Ask for help.
- Notice where the #CPR AED is for places you go often. If your child's school doesn't have one, ask for it. choa.org/projectsave #SaveaLife
- #Choking problem signs are turning blue, cannot cough, & hands at throat. A baby may be frightened/agitated or arched/rigid. #SaveaLife
- For #Choking: stand behind the child or adult, place thumb side of your fist against their stomach, just above the belly button. #SaveaLife
- For #choking: grab your fisted hand with other hand. Thrust inward and upward. Repeat until no longer choking or passes out. #SaveaLife
- For #choking baby: turn baby over, keeping the head lower than the body, perform up to 5 sternum thrusts just below the nipple . #SaveaLife
