Facebook and Google own social media, yet neither have a great app to their name.

  1. How is it that Facebook and Google have two of the largest social networks on the planet, yet the worst app experiences in the industry?
  2. @chartier because they have always been web companies focused on browser based solutions first. Mobile is a thing that happened, not planned
  3. @chartier Because - wrongly - I don't think either really care about apps.
  4. @chartier Google because they accidentally had a good search UI and now have inertia, Facebook for the same reason with social networks.
  5. @chartier because they don't care about their users. They just wanna have a lot of them (and their information?)
  6. @chartier Facebook and Google are both advertising companies not product companies. The skills and values you need aren't the same for apps.
