Notre Dame Lawyers Gather in Chicago

More than 200 Notre Dame Lawyers welcomed Jack Swarbrick, Jr., '76, vice president and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics at Notre Dame, to Chicago Aug. 11. The group included alumni as well as current and admitted students. Swarbrick offered an inside look at collegiate athletics.

  1. Swarbrick is a Notre Dame Lawyer by virtue of his law degree from Stanford. Attendees at the gathering included undergraduate and Law School alumni.
  2. Swarbrick told the group that he was very proud that two of the last three student-body presidents were student-athletes. Corey Robinson is this year's student-body president. In addition, a recent student-athlete, Anna Kottkamp, was valedictorian in 2015.
  3. Swarbrick said the number one issue for student-athletes — like all college students — is figuring out how to make sure they get more sleep and better nutrition.
  4. Swarbrick thanked the great efforts of Tricia Bellia, William J. and Dorothy K. O’Neill Professor of Law, who chairs the Notre Dame faculty board on athletics and is the University's representative to the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
