1. The worlds of entertainment, sports and British royalty collided at Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took in a basketball game and met possibly the closest thing America has to a royal couple: Jay-Z and Queen B.
  2. William and Kate capped a busy day of their U.S. visit last night by taking in a game between the Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
  3. When word started to emerge that the most famous couples in the U.S. and the U.K. would be at the Nets game, the anticipation among royal watchers and celebrity spotters was palpable.
  4. As it turned out, both couples sat court-side at the game, but on opposite sides of the hardwood.
  5. According to HollywoodLife.com, it was the Cambridges who put in the request for an audience with Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
  6. It wasn't until the break at the end of the third quarter that Jay-Z and Beyoncé crossed the court to shake hands with the Duke and Duchess.
  7. And, of course, Bey couldn't walk those 50 feet without causing a sensation.
  8. The arena lit up when the meeting of the two couples was shown on the Nets' big screen.
  9. The importance of this convocation cannot be overstated, although Jason Gay of the Wall Street Journal did try.
