1. If you're going to spend millions of dollars on a 30-second-long TV commercial, you might as well get some bang for your buck right?

We're not sure if anyone at Budweiser had this in mind while conceptualizing Bud Light's 2015 Super Bowl ad, but the beer company already appears to be seeing quite the return on its investment (by way of media attention, at least) for a spot that hasn't even aired yet.

Arcade buffs, prepare to be jealous of the more than 550 extras who got paid to run around in this giant, human-sized Pac-Man maze for a beer commercial last week:
  2. The Chicago Tribune first reported on the ad last week, just hours before the commercial (or "experience," as the paper called it) was set to be filmed in Los Angeles.

"Ad agency Energy BBDO and Mosaic, an experiential marketing firm, will engineer one 60-second commercial in which a Bud Light fan will unexpectedly experience 'old school fun' after receiving a message on a bottle," wrote Robert Channick for the Tribune.

"A message on a bottle will trigger a consumer to step outside, where he will be instructed to put a giant coin in an equally large slot, activating a larger-than-life Pac-Man game," Channick continued, noting that the ensuing "whirlwind experience" would be captured for the commercial.
  3. Called "Coin," the spot was created as part of Bud Light's "Up for Whatever" campaign, which "targets millennials who value experience over material goods" according to Bud Light Vice President Alexander Lambrecht.

Indeed, that millennial excitement was evident all over Instagram and Twitter on Wednesday evening as young people hired to play extras in the commercial started sharing photos of the Pac-Man set from downtown L.A. — because as Budweiser surely knows, millennials value experiences that they can share online in the spirit of making their friends jealous the most.

  12. As Uproxx points out, Budweiser will likely be spending at least $9 million on this 60-second-long commercial (plus whatever it cost the company to build and film the actual Pac-Man game) based on Variety's May 2014 report that NBC now charges $4.5 million for 30 seconds worth of air time during the Super Bowl.

You'll have to wait to view the final product when Super Bowl 49 airs on Feb. 1, but in the meantime you can check out our roundup of the best Super Bowl commercials from 2014 right here.
