Nets Knicks

The Brooklyn Nets' nail-biter of a victory over the Knicks before a sell-out crowd at the new Barclays Center lived up to the pre-tipoff hype. And hoops fans took to Twitter to cheer, trash talk and embrace this new and lively cross-borough rivalry.

  1. There was a lot of talk about the burgeoning rivalry.
  2. The Knicks Nets rivalry is on a whole different level this year and I love it #BattleOfNewYork
  3. I'm real happy the Knicks and Nets are both really good teams in the same division hopefully it will be a good rivalry for years to come
  4. This Knicks-Nets game is amazing! What an exciting rivalry!
  5. As a Brooklyn dude, and a basketball fan, last night was the greatest night of my life.
  6. And the trash-talking started early.
  7. Don't you think Jay-Z secretly wishes he owned a piece of the Knicks instead?
  8. People forget we are missing not one, not two, but THREE of our BEST players tonight. Come playoff time lets see what's what. #knicks
  9. But some basketball fans were loathe to declare this a rivalry after only one game.
  10. How exactly do the Knicks and Nets have a rivalry when they've yet to play each other?
  11. PSA-Knicks/Nets is NOT a rivalry... Please stop trying to make it one.
  12. This is not a rivalry. New York belongs to.. "The New York Knicks". #NYK
  13. But that nay-saying didn't stop the Nets high-powered ownership -- Jay-Z -- and local politicians from claiming early bragging rights.
  14. Brooklyn Nets are "Kings" of NYC...How sweet it is!
