Repository persistence (June 2011)

  1. @cardcc @lescarr I've thought we should use RepUK to measure actual persistence in repositories. Did RIDIR do something like this?
  2. @cardcc @paulwalk migrations really show up institutional commitment to persistence. migration is sometimes done due to LACK OF resources
  3. @lescarr @cardcc Persistence of full-text or metadata items? Have been looking at %age of full-text items on repositories.
  4. @briankelly @cardcc persistence of reference (and hence record/metadata/full-text-if-it-exists) and sustainability of full-text
  5. @briankelly also, what is a full-text? Any sort of file associated with the record? It could be a png of the author. Or a coversheet.
  6. @briankelly how are you measuring full text % in repos? No obvious way to me!
  7. @briankelly not available as generic feature of OAI-PMH? Not available as implemented feature of DSpace/Fedora repos? Or all ePrints repos?
  8. @cardcc Correct. Implemented at Bath (as requested feature, I think) Point of forthcoming post is this should be standard.
  9. @cardcc Note limited support for this search option - and uncertainties over meaning of full-text, as @lescarr suggested.
