Twitter discussion between @gkob and @kidehen about Facebook and Linked Data (note in reverse order)

  1. @tomayac give devs 30 mins w/ FB graph API & 30 mins w/ some RDF(a) data. I bet the RDF group will not only produce nothing, but give up
  2. @gkob #RDF != #LinkedData. What #Facebook #Microsoft #Google #Yahoo! etc.. r doing re. structured data (without #RDF) is quite valuable.
  3. @gkob they're building developer love, but I think its started from the data
  4. @gkob I didn't mean that, just that they already have a lots of good data, so people will flock to that.
  5. @ldodds I'm not saying that all web's data will be on Facebook, quite the opposite: they are creating the hub. An impressive one.
  6. @gkob I think we ultimately agree on the following: it just isn't about #RDF or #SPARQL (implementation details). It's about #LinkedData
  7. @gkob A massive amount of useful, relevant, live data that people care about also helps. Working with FB isn't without its pains #linkeddata
  8. @gkob only issue with #Facebook is #privacy & their #socialweb silo mentality. I find what they do with #data pretty pragmatic. #LinkedData
  9. @gkob I don't have any problems querying #Facebook or meshing its data with data from other places en route to richer #LinkedData. All good.
  10. @gkob key thing is this: #Facebook is a massive #LinkedData Space plugged into the global #WWW data space. User Agents can query it.
  11. @gkob #Facebook has been creating a massive #LinkedData hub since inception. It doesn't have to be hardcore #RDF to be useful Linked Data.
  12. @gkob Facebook (#FB) is just another Data Space plugged into the global #WWW Data Space. It's all good re. #LinkedData. "AND" is good :-)
  13. #linkeddata folks: forget all your RDF & Sparql, you'll have to compete with Facebook's Graph API, and that war is about developer love
  14. Facebook uses mysql as their graph store?? #fbdevlove
