Festival Village launch event, Southbank Centre

On 25 January 2012, Southbank Centre's Festival Village project was launched. The project seeks to get people together to conceive, design and build a new creative social space for use by artists and staff during the Festival of the World this summer.

  9. This staircase will incorporate a box office, which sounds like a sensible idea to help sell tickets to the outdoor festival-goers who might not spot the indoor box office!

    The makers of last year's huge straw Urban Fox will make a baobab tree - used in Africa as a meeting place - in same spot. #festivalvillage

  11. My Zoo Tycoon gaming experience suggests these trees are also popular with giraffes - let's hope some of those are attracted to the South Bank ;)
