A story of Kayla, an 8-yr old jumproper with heart, and the power of social + email

  3. Ok, this is pretty hard to resist. An 8 year old MailChimp user? So we checked out the campaign...
  4. Now that's adorable. She's in this jump rope contest to raise money for the American Heart Association. There's even a link to a video of Kayla jump roping at last year's event:
  5. So we couldn't resist donating a little money

    We also posted the story of Kayla to our Posterous:
  6. What's interesting about the above is that we automatically post news from Posterous to our Facebook wall:
  7. (But more on that in a sec.)

    Within a few hours of our donation, Kayla's dad tweeted a nice thank you:

  11. What's cool about that Facebook post I mentioned is that some MailChimp customers out there learned about Kayla and donated too.

  13. and Kayla's dad wrote a followup, along with some backstory of how he heard about MailChimp in the first place, on his blog:
  14. So there you have the story of Kayla. Her goal was to jump rope and raise $300. She started with a simple tweet about her MailChimp newsletter, and people from around the world donated. Now she's raised over $1,000 (and she's even set a new goal of $2,000!).
