Author and product designer, Nate Berkus launched his official Pinterest profile yesterday with the help of hundreds of bloggers at Random House’s Power Reader Breakfast. The event, which coincided with BookExpo America, highlighted Berkus’ upcoming book, THE THINGS THAT MATTER.

Berkus’ profile as a leading design authority already made him a popular fixture on Pinterest, but his official presence on the fast-growing social network will allow him to interact more personally with Pinterest’s 20 million users.
 
"I live and breathe design. It's what I do for my job, but, more importantly, it's what I do in my free time. Sites like Pinterest are built for people like me. It's where we go to get inspired and get ideas. It's where we go to share what we love," explained Berkus.  

Already engaged with fans on Twitter (@Nate_Berkus) and Facebook, Pinterest is another way for Berkus to carry on a conversation about his favorite topic of design with his fans.  
 
Part design manifesto, part memoir, Berkus’ THE THINGS THAT MATTER will highlight his design philosophies through personal, moving stories about influential experiences and what inspires him. THE THINGS THAT MATTER will be published by Spiegel & Grau, a division of The Random House Publishing Group, on October 16.
