Why Marketing is an Important Part to Starting a Business

The office is rented, eager employees have started, the doors are wide open and...no one is showing up. Don't forget to market your new business.

  2. Believe it or not marketing is more than crucial when it comes to driving customers to your door.  Even if your new business is in the middle of town it is important to let people know that you are new, you are there, and what you represent.  In a small town, people may not even know you recently opened.  In a bigger city, it is easy to get mixed in the clutter of the constant selling chaos.
  3. Get conversations going about your new business before you even open.  Start a Facebook account, a Twitter account and reach out to the local media.  Post updates on the opening.  Get your employees to join the movement with their own personal accounts.  You can even consider giving out employee incentives for new customer referrals.
  4. Marketing your business does not have to mean traditional concepts.  Think about the age of your target market first.  For senior citizens, you may want to go for older medians such as the Sunday newspaper or local access television, but what if that isn't your target?  Think about how many opportunities the Internet holds for your business!
  5. Another great way to build a strong clientele is through partnerships.  Visit similar businesses that are within a mile radius.  Are you a small gym franchise with a grand opening?  Is there a yoga studio located in the same shopping plaza?  You want to stop by, introduce yourself and suggest a meeting.  You could pair discounts and a referral programs for their members to come to you and your members to visit them.
  6. Good "farm marketing" for straw bales. Breaks the clutter, simple product message, and easy call to action! http://t.co/bJvpbjGH

  7. Marketing is so important for a new business.  Even before your grand opening you want buzz to be circulating about the organization.  Get employees, family and friends involved in conveying the message.  Make sure your message is strong, clear and consistent across all platforms.  Lastly, network as much as possible in order to get yourself out there and create partnerships.  Opt to go the extra step by looking into internet yellow pages Los Angeles marketing.
