How we watched #NRA speech on #Newtown

Many San Francisco Bay Area residents flocked to social media Friday after the association's leader answered last week's lethal Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings by advocating armed guards in schools and blaming political and cultural forces.

  1. #NRA not taking questions but invite press to a press conf. How convenient for them.
  2. OMG - is he actually advocating to arm the schools? #NRA
  3. #NRA Proposal to put armed guards in schools is ridiculous.
  4. We didn't need armed guards at school when I was growing up and I went to high school in the so called inner city. #NRA
  5. Wayne LaPierre, all countries have monsters and they have schools. They don't all have our gun problem. #NRA
  6. #NRA - blame everyone but themselves. Blame feds. Blame local district attorneys. Blame the apocalypse! Guns! More guns! Bigger guns!
  7. Oh yeah...now he is blaming movies and video games...#NRA
  8. Seems like the message of the #NRA press conference is that only the #NRA can save us.
  9. And not taking questions #NRA? Cowards. Teachers at Sandy Hook were courageous, but not you.
  10. Another CodePink protester "Ban assault rifle weapons NOW!" #NRA
  11. I am so sorry I turned on broadcast television this morning. #lapierre
  12. I am gobsmacked by the nerve of the #NRA to hold a press conference like this. Wow. We'll see how it plays.
  13. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." #LaPierre during #NRA press conference.
  14. Ok so, this is what the #NRA meant by "meaningful contributions" to make sure Sandy Hook doesn't happen again.
  15. A whole week to think and this is the best the #NRA can do?
  16. "The only thing that stops a bad guy w/a gun is a good guy w/a gun," LaPierre #nra Not sure how that advances the conversation
