At least 9 people, including one child, have been killed by Syrian security forces who moved into Bab Amr, a residential district of Homs after six days of tank bombardment. Warning: includes graphic content.
- Yesterday, on the first day of Eid al-Adha, forces loyal President Bashar al-Assad opened fire at protesters, killing at least 22 people and prompting the Arab League to call an emergency meeting to discuss the government’s failure to halt the bloodshed, Bloomberg reported.
- Videos uploaded by activists to YouTube today shows some scenes of the assault on Hmos and other cities:
- The assault resulted in many casualties, and the Syrian National Council called for international action to "stop the massacre" in Homs. The SNC called Homs a "humanitarian disaster area", Al Jazeera reported.
