What is Anvil's Mission?
- @adelinekoh fundamentally #anvil aims to improve the visibility & credibility of digital humanities work via peer review, editing, etc
- @adelinekoh @lisaspiro @vszabo #Anvil provides traditional publishing services to nontraditional humanities s'ship.
Anvil publications as alternatives to traditional scholarship: dissertations, articles, monographs.
- @adelinekoh @lisaspiro @MoodyFred does #Anvil see itself as a venue for grad students doing non traditional diss work? If so, how? If not y?
- @adelinekoh #anvil is Digitally mediated humanities scholarship, impossible to produce in book form.
- @adelinekoh I agree, but I am just wondering about changing a culture that has a love affair with print because it's print #anvil
- @rogerwhitson We may hate to write, but we love to see ourselves published on paper still #anvil Not saying it's right...
- RT @MoodyFred: @readywriting Should be room for both/all. #anvil //Agreed, but how do we make the space in our collective culture?
- @readywriting We're hoping that associating digital work w/ a publisher like #anvil will help help open up possibilities for non-book work
- @MoodyFred @lisaspiro I'm being contrary, so please don't misunderstand, but do we still associate "publisher" with print? #anvil
- @MoodyFred @lisaspiro Is there a risk that some will dismiss b/c it's not print, therefor not a publisher? #anvil
- @readywriting Good question! Given growth of digital across publishing, I don't think publisher necessarily = print anymore. #anvil
- @adelinekoh @MarlaJaksch Yes, sorry--meant publisher's imprimatur in DH arena--it's a missing element at present #anvil
