I cannot imagine a more egregious act by a school administration. This isn't the "adults" ignoring a player receiving improper benefits (i.e. tattoos, no-work jobs, etc.). This is a school administration taking a "hear-no-evil, see-no-evil" position to criminal activity, just to protect the reputation of the school and athletic program. more2012-07-18T11:52:03.004Z

Although I might be comparing apples to oranges here, the SMU case taught us all that the so-called "death penalty" will, and did in that instance, send ANY athletic program back to the Stone Age; the fact that it could take years to rebuild a program is the reason why the NCAA is skittish about using the death penalty again.more2012-07-18T06:32:14.587Z

No school should be allowed to cover up a felony committed on their campus. There has been arguments stating that since this did not affect "fair play" that the NCAA can't be involved. If they had done the right thing years ago, it would have affected their recruiting prospects. If the crimes were not committed on campus then there would be a valid argument that Penn State should not be penalized. But it did and Penn State knew about it and did nothing. They are just as guilty as Sandusky.more2012-07-18T05:48:24.292Z

Teach this school and all others by example that this type of behavior will reap the most damaging form of retribution. Allow players to transfer with immediate eligibility at their new schools. The loss in revenue and prestige will never replace the loss of innocence and safety that this school and its leaders took from these children.more2012-07-18T01:49:50.526Z
