Brazil started their 2014 World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Croatia.

That is what the national team was hoping to do in front of their home fans at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

What came with it was a "little controversy."

The game was tied at 1 in the 69th minute when Brazilian player Fred drew a penalty after being "tackled" inside the box.

The only problem was that he was not tackled as he dove to hopefully get the call.

The referee bought it and awarded the penalty shot.

  3. It didn't take long for Brazil to capitalize as Neymar, who scored the game tying goal in the first half, scored on the penalty shot that put them ahead 2-1.

You can say this is the reason why so many here in the United States dislike soccer because of so many players who dive or fake their injuries during a matchup.

As much as FIFA is trying to improve, this dive by Fred probably will set the tone for more controversy in the next coming weeks in the 2014 World Cup.
