Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass Version 2.0

On July 17, USDA unveiled an updated version of its Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Compass. The KYF Compass is an interactive web-based document and map highlighting USDA support for local and regional food projects through successful producer, business and community case studies.

  1. To celebrate the release of the Compass 2.0, USDA and the White House Office of Public Engagement are co-hosted a Google+ Hangout on the same day as its release. The hangout was moderated by Deputy Secretary Merrigan and White House Director of Public Engagement Jon Carson, and featured women leaders in local food from around the country. As part of the release, and to follow-up on the themes we addressed in the Google+ Hangout, Deputy Secretary Merrigan also hosted a live Twitter chat on July 24. (see transcript of the chat farther down in this document)
