  3. First up, a proclamation from Mayor White honoring older South Carolinians #sburggov
  4. Now: Agreement with the Greenville Chapter National Railway Historical Society a Caboose at the Magnolia Street Station #sburggov
  5. City will spend "no more than $1,000" on curb improvements and parking space painting for the attraction. #sburggov
  6. Caboose should be installed at Magnolia Street Train Depot in the next 6 weeks. #sburggov
  7. Now: Changing the name of Piedmont St. to Lawrence Johnson Sr. Ln. Street is in the Forrest Park Development. Approved 7-0. #sburggov

  9. Council member Rice saying that City should fund fewer organizations at a higher rate in the future, Council member Ryba agrees. #sburggov
  10. Neither is advocating cutting out organizations receiving funding this year. Council member Reeder doesn't favor the idea. #sburggov
  11. Council member Reeder: "You'd be cutting a lot of organizations that do important work." "Which would you cut?" #sburggov
  12. Mayor White: "We're getting cut by the federal government every year. Every year we're getting less [CDBG/HOME funding]." #sburggov
  13. Now: Resolution to close T.K. Gregg Recreation Center, and replace it at some point in the future with a new facility. #sburggov
  14. City Manager Ed Memmott: "I believe five years is a realistic timeline" to replace the center with a new T.K. Gregg Center. #sburggov
  15. Council member Dogan: says she will not be comfortable unless something "is in writing" guaranteeing a new facility. #sburggov
  16. Dogan says that she will consider "other action" against the City if the facility is closed without a guarantee. #sburggov
  17. City Manager Ed Memmott: "Every dollar we spend on the current center is a dollar we can't spend on the new center." #sburggov
  18. Memmott: "Every dollar we save will go to the construction of a new T.K. Gregg."
  19. Memmott says City can't commit to building new center, because it can't vote on binding budget items past the current fiscal year. #sburggov
  20. City Manager Memmott says city has three years of payments on C.C. Woodson, after which could devote more $ to new T.K. Gregg. #sburggov
  21. Council member Anderson says as long as he's on Council he will be in favor of building new center. #sburggov
  22. Motion to close T.K. Gregg and set aside funds for new center passes 5-2. Dogan and Reeder against. #sburggov
  23. T.K. Gregg will close in June. $100,000 in savings will be diverted to eventual construction of new facility. #sburggov
