I'm a developmental pediatrician and mom of 4. Particularly interested in early identification for kids with autism. #thearcchat- Q:1 for everyone: Is autism on the rise or is it being diagnosed more often? #TheArcChat #TheArcChat
- Q1: Some of #autism increase is due to way children are recognized; researching causes will tell us more. #TheArcChat -CR
- Research and surveillance must continue for us to have an accurate answer to this question. #TheArcChat
@drboylecdc Does the higher # mean were doing a better job at early recognition? #thearcchat- Early intervention can have a significant impact on a child's ability to learn new skills. #thearcchat
- @DrBoyleCDC What do you think of parents who find they are autistic after the diagnosis of a child. Is there room for a study? #TheArcChat
- #TheArcChat prevalence data is important - organizations like Easter Seals use it to advocate for increased services and supports
- @Shelly9080 Yes, our data show more children diagnosed w/ #autism at earlier ages—but most not diagnosed until age 4. #TheArcChat -CR
