My Venus Transit Experience
More than 400 people were having as much fun as I was on the evening of 6/5/12 for this rare event at the Tellus Northwest GA Science Museum in Cartersville, GA!
- The museum opened in 2009 and can be seen from I-75 when traveling southbound. It is huge!!!! 120,000 sq. ft! www.tellusmuseum.org

Inside the Tellus science museum in the air and space section. I like this diagram....I would hang this on my wall! http://pic.twitter.com/DfnWu131- Insert caption below: "I once caught a galaxy 'this' big!" But seriously, this image to give some perspective would only cover the tip of a pen. It's blown up quite a bit to show great detail. Talk about making one feel teeny tiny!
How tiny I feel after seeing this pic in the Tellus science museum! Image of 10,000 galaxies 13bill light years away! t.co/3fOpOJJJ- It's about 5:30pm at this point and a healthy sized crowd has begun to gather. It's almost time for the big show! Everyone is ready to check out Venus!
Tellus NW Georgia Science Museum was mighty popular last night for #venustransit http://pic.twitter.com/YMm4NiG3- While the crowd is gathering outside Astronomer David Dundee lines up the @tellusmuseum 's 20 foot planewave telescope. If only those pesky clouds would just stay out of the way and quit blocking the view! Grrr!
Astronomer David Dundee double checks 2make sure the Tellus Science Museum's 20" telescope is n place 4 #venustransit http://pic.twitter.com/42rAGAJJ- Click on the Tout link below to see a quick video of David lining everything up.

- This is what David is getting into position for the Venus transit viewing. Perhaps I will ask Santa for one these! Is this on your Christmas list too?
A pic of that amazing instrument...20" Planewave Telescope that allowed hundreds to gather and watch #venustransit http://pic.twitter.com/7fp0Cy37- The telescope is linked up to this projector screen inside the museum's theatre and lecture hall. David Dundee talks to a packed house and answers questions.
A packed house inside the theatre @tellusmuseum as astronomer David Dundee answers questions about #venustransit http://pic.twitter.com/X8HfO2uN- It's close to 6:25pm EDT at this point.
Astronomer David Dundee explains the "oil drop illusion" of #venustransit @tellusmuseum on the evening of 6/5/12 http://pic.twitter.com/39XXBSD1- I decided to wander back outside and check out the view from a different angle.
This is so cool! Thanks 2 Don German for letting me take a peak @ #venustransit through his telescope @ Tellus museum http://pic.twitter.com/9OO44qml
Cool pic of view into telescope. See the little black dot in the sun? That's Venus making it's move! #venustransit http://pic.twitter.com/3gKQLqkL- And the crowds kept on coming! This was the line to see the 20" telescope!
The line to get inside to see the Tellus Science Museum in northwest GA's 20 foot telescope #venustransit t.co/WXLgvx9I- I've gotta get one of these T's! Brock waited in line to check out the telescope. Here he is with a big grin after getting to the top of the stairs.
Love this shirt that Brock wore to #venustransit viewing at Tellus science museum in northwest GA! http://pic.twitter.com/ruatxUNf- Tellus Museum staff were on hand all night to answer questions from eager young minds interested in science. Way to go moms and dads! Get em' interested while they are young!
