#DCGabfest: Social Media That Happened!
Amazing but true stories from the live recording of The Slate Political Gabfest, on Jan. 23 in Washington, D.C.
- 9 a.m. (all times -ish) Our first time using an event hashtag, which is sure, like a green slope social media maneuver.
- Happy #DCGabfest Day! Can't wait to spend some time with David, Emily, and John tonight at their @SixthandI @SlateGabfest taping.
- 2 p.m. David and Emily are reading prep stuff from @EzraKlein and the @BrennanCenter. Other stuff is happening.
- Tonight, the #DCGabfest from @SlateGabfest--we should all ask @jdickerson how it feels to be a FOX News pariah.
- 6 p.m. People arrive. A projector is on-stage at the venue, the Sixth and I Historic Synagogue. It's scrolling through a nascent, under-subscribed event hashtag -- #DCGabfest.
- Have great seats with friends for #DCGabfest. Just saw an earlier tweet of mine on screen. It's all gone very meta. #wheelswithinwheels
- 5:55 p.m. (really -ish) Meanwhile, the pre-event cocktail is wrapping up. Someone calls the popularity contest for @jdickerson. Re-count is ongoing.
- At @Slate #DCgabfest cocktail happy hour. Based on crowd, @jdickerson is most popular twitpic.com/bxp1e1
- 6:45 p.m. Almost ready...

- People get into the projector screen spirit!
- RT @Bennettg: Showed up at 6th and i for services. What the heck is #dcgabfest ?
- Can anyone tell me the name of the on-screen transitions between tweets @ #DCGabfest ? It's nifty.
- @Glenn, it's VisibleTweets.com
- 7 p.m. And then...
- Plus, a live music intro from Eric! In December, Eric sent us an email try-out. David was like, "yeah, awesome!" And John said, "Yeah -- open d!"
- So...
