Superbowl Dishes

For the perfectionists, the health nuts, the time crunchers, and the creative.

  1. RT @VernonJordanIII: In my house #SuperBowl looks like a regular game...with the exception of more food. Lol
  2. When you think Superbowl party, most people also think finger foods. It's not just about the big game, its about the big appetite and snacking throughout. It's time to break out the wings, dips, pigs in a blanket, mozarella sticks, and so much more. But where do you find delicious recipes for all of your favorite snacks?
  3. The first logical step to planning your snacks is to go to the Food Network. Who's better to consult than people who are famous for cooking? Wings are obviously a favorite. One recipe I personally tried was Alton's Buffalo Wings. They were spicy and delicious but also a bit healthier than your typical snack. They're baked, not fried! There are also some appetizers that you might not immediately think of when planning Superbowl hors d'euvres. If you want to impress everyone with your creativity, you could consider Rachael's Chorizo and Shrimp Quesedillas or Chile Chicken with Fries. Just always be sure to leave ample time to complete the more complicated recipes you want to try.
  4. If you're looking to make dips but want to work on making your night just a bit healthier, swap out your sour cream for Greek yogurt. It cuts your calories and fat while still giving you that creamy texture and full taste. You could also change out your chips. Using rice chips or this first site's Corazonas Tortilla Chips which contain plant sterols. If you take both of these steps, you could cut your calories in half! Eliminating the options for unhealthy snack is also something to consider. Instead of a dip full of cheese, cream, and other calorie-filled deliciousness, opt for a veggie tray with a light ranch or blue cheese as your dip. If you ever have the choice, choose your light products that are typically full of fat (such as ranch, cheese, sour cream, etc.)
  5. I wouldn't call it "watching the #SuperBowl"... It's more like ingesting the unhealthiest food imaginable, while a game is on.
  6. It's really easy to pig out during the Superbowl, especially when you're at a party around a ton of people. After eating chips, dips, and all the fried foods you can dream of, you might regret enjoying yourself so much during the game. Maybe that's why the day after the Superbowl is the day most people call in to work! It's not like you can seriously be productive with that much grease in your body. Consider the healthier alternatives if calling in isn't on your to-do list.
  7. If your main worry is not missing the game, check out this site for quick and easy appetizers. All of these recipes could take less than 15 minutes and are also sure to impress your guests. They'll never guess that you got them done almost instantly. Making finger foods that don't need to be cooked is the best approach in a time crunch. All you have to do is take out, assemble, and serve. Sandwiches are always a good idea if you want it to seem like it took you some time; but a meat/cheese plate is also a quick, easy choice when you just can't miss a minute of the game.
  8. This is probably the most aggressive Super Bowl dish I've ever seen... bit.ly/AwPiqL
  9. Some though, just aim to be the best at what they do. If you're in charge of the snacks this year, you can't go wrong with this recipes. They're fun, creative, and best of all HUGE. There is no way that anyone can possibly top a football stadium, complete with players, made out of meat, cheese, and sandwiches. You'll be the winner in everyone's book with these extravagant layouts. And the fact that no one will possibly go hungry doesn't hurt either. Just make sure to take a picture before it gets demolished. This might be more appealing to the girls reading, but I don't think it ever hurts to be a little festive when you're watching football and beer commercials all night.
