JournCamp: Training in Chicago

The Society of Professional Journalists hosted a day of journalism training at Chicago's Navy Pier. In case you missed the opportunity or want to look back on what you learned, this story outlines some JournCamp highlights.

  1. Welcome to an exciting recap of the Society of Professional Journalists' training program JournCamp! We enjoyed interacting with you in Chicago and on Twitter. For those who attended we hope you learned a lot, and we thank you for everything you shared. We compiled some Twitter notes from Friday's sessions, organized by speaker (in no particular order).
  2. But first, some Twitter chatter about JournCamp (the stuff that's not specific to a session).
  3. In #Chicago? Full-day #JournCamp is Friday and I'll be talking about entrepreneurial journalism and news startups: spj.org/journcamp.asp
  4. Excited for #SPJ #JournCamp tomorrow @ Navy Pier. Lugging around this laptop just in case I need it--this journo needs a tablet, #Santa!
  5. Excited to discuss Evan Williams and kitty gifs with @andymboyle during #journcamp tomorrow. Oh...and journalism. We may discuss that, too.
  6. Not going to lie, I'm pretty excited about the @spj_tweets #journo boot camp. I just wish the bus would move a little faster.
  7. Looking forward to day at Society of Professional #Journalists JournCamp in Chicago. spj.org/journcamp.asp
  8. What is your favorite new news startup? Speaking this morning at #JournCamp about entrepreneurial journalism. What are you excited about?
  9. Excited to be back in Chicago at the SPJ #JournCamp conference.
  10. I'm at SPJ #JournCamp in Chicago to learn new skills for my new writing career.
  11. Taking a break from the @ChiJournal grind today to get enriched at the Society of Professional Journalists’ #Journcamp.
  12. Attending Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) #JournCamp Chicago. Social media covered extensively.
  13. Running on two hours of sleep, but learning a lot at the SPJ #JournCamp. Journalists don't sleep anyway! With @KaraHackett and @TheTimDeluxe
  14. I think at every session today, someone's reminded us the Internet is built on cats. #journcamp
  15. After #JournCamp, seeing trainers and attendees, I can emphatically say #journalism is alive and well. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.
  16. Mark Briggs | KING-TV, author, “Entrepreneurial Journalism”

  17. Briggs opened JournCamp with a general session on entrepreneurial journalism.
