Labor Lobby Day On Capitol Hill: Jobs, Not Cuts!
It's time for Members of Congress to put jobs before cuts in the current debate over how to avoid going over the “fiscal cliff.” Today, union members from across the U.S. are making sure Representatives get the message loud and clear.
- The 2012 election is over and the American people have spoken. They voted for strengthening the middle class and putting people back to work--not for job-killing budget cuts. They voted against dismantling Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and vital services like Head Start, child care and special education in order to address our nation’s debt. More than 100 members and leaders of SEIU from 24 states are on Capitol Hill today to deliver a message to Members of Congress: "We needs jobs, not cuts!" Union members from AFSCME, AFL-CIO and the NEA are also taking part in the National Lobby Day.
- Just because you couldn't be in Washington lobbying your own member of Congress doesn't mean you can't make your voice heard. Pledge to make calls to Congress by signing your name at the action link below.
