1. With a little help from her friends, Morgan Pressel managed to do what seemed nearly impossible. For the second consecutive year, Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida reached the $1 million dollar mark in money raised.

“We’re big dreamers, but would we have thought we’d be over $6.5 million dollars in 10 years? It’s mind blowing and it’s all from the support of this community which is so special,” Pressel told LPGA.com. “But just the amount of people that we’ll be able to help with this money is what it’s about. It’s not about you know $100 thousand dollars or a million dollars, it’s really the money is going to the people who really need it in our community and that’s hoping that other women don’t have the fate of my mother and other mothers of our families.”

Pressel started this event a decade ago to help fight breast cancer, which took her mother’s life at an early age. Six years ago, money raised from the event helped to make possible the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel Mammovan - a mobile named after Morgan’s mother, which provides exams and care to residents throughout the Palm Beach area who would otherwise be unable to afford treatment. The event has also provided support to the Lynn Cancer Institute’s Breast Cancer Center at Boca Raton Community Hospital as well as the Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami.

This year’s fundraiser was supported by several of Pressel’s fellow LPGA professionals including Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson,Brittany Lincicome, Gerina Piller, world No.1 Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson and Nicole Castrale. PGA Tour Champions’ Bernhard Langer also showed his support this year.

“My friends are the best. They are just the best people, the biggest hearts and I love that they have fun with these couple days,” said Pressel. “When I ask them to come and donate their time they never hesitate. They make sure everyone has a great time and they have fun with it as well. For them to be here for this, it’s awesome.”
