Joel Anderson gets real about the Ignite Combine and kids.

Joel Anderson empties his thoughts, and it isn't for the faint of heart. But if you can take a dose a realism, you might just chuckle.

  1. I have a few more leftover notes from the @BigCountyPreps1 Ignite Showcase on Saturday at @TheSCHSChargers. They are as follows ...
  2. If you want to know why Florida is one of the nation’s premier hotbeds for college football talent, look no further than Saturday.
  3. It was a gorgeous 73-degree afternoon in early February, something that just can’t be duplicated many other places around the country.
  4. @BigCountyPreps1 said he capped attendance at 270, turning away about 50 more kids because of space limitations. Man, listen ...
  5. ... you can't get 300 kids to show up for much of anything that costs $$$. Let alone on a weekend. But the culture of The Game is different
  6. Further. There was a lot of talent out there. So much talent. @iwynn77, @Chase_Litton, Corey Martinez, Plant City's Montel McBride, etc etc
  7. One thing that struck me was how physical kids are today. It used to not be that way, especially in shorts and T-shirts.
  8. Football is so much more violent now. I can understand why parents might not want to let their kids play. I was sorta shocked at it Saturday
  9. Other observations: I really can't believe flat tops and mohawks are making a comeback. So many of y'all need to knuckle up w/your barbers
  10. Players talk so much more trash today, too. In my entire senior football season, I can only remember talking to someone, like, twice.
  11. But you could hear dudes just yammering away all damn afternoon. This isn't me being an old fogey. I don't have a problem with it.
  12. THIS is me being an old fogey: I really don't ever need to hear anyone say "turn up!" again. That's already played out to me. Like, for real
  13. Where are so many of y'all high school kids getting tattoos, btw? Like, who's hooking y'all up?
  14. The reason is, for real, some of y'all should've waited until you could afford a real tattoo artist.
  15. You're gonna have to go through life with a cheap-ass tattoo that says "Turn Up!" or "#TeamGrind" and you will regret this in 14 yrs. Trust
  16. There were lots of great coaches out there. Wish I had the chance to get to meet everyone and places a face with the name. Maybe later.
  17. But above all, I can't think of many coaches who have a more distinctive voice than @PlantFootball's Robert Weiner. It cuts thru the noise
  18. And finally, because I care about so many of you, I think someone should tell you this before you get too far along in your lives.
  19. Most of you are terrible at football. Like, really. Even some of the 3-stars among the crowd. You're going to go to college and get exposed
  20. There's nothing wrong with this. It happens to the vast majority of us.
  21. But there's going to come a day when you realize: "man, i've squeezed all the athleticism out of this body that I can."
  22. When that happens, I really hope that you can read pretty good or do some math or have a passion for music. Something.
  23. But seriously, remember this: you're probably not good at football.
  24. And after tomorrow, some of you, you won't have to worry about recruiting analysts or coaches calling you again. This might be ...
  25. ... the pinnacle of your athletic career. Enjoy it while you can. Because most people will stop caring about you once you sign that NLI.
