"Better protected migrant workers and better governed labour migration"

 

  1. Panelists included Philippines Ambassador to the United Nations Cecilia Rebong; African Union Ambassador to the United Nations Jean-Marie Ehouzou; European Union Ambassador to the United Nations Peter Sørensen and UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Protection Volker Türk. The event was moderated by ILO Deputy Director-General for Policy Sandra Polaski. ILO Director-General Guy Ryder delivered closing remarks.
  3. Held at lunch time on a busy day for the International Labour Conference, the migration event nonetheles drew a packed house. The urgency of finding a coordinated policy response to crises of migration was a theme which came up again and again.
  6. The moderator, ILO Deputy Director-General Sandra Polaski, opened the discussion by asking panelists which concrete actions the ILO could take to protect migrants and leverage fair migration as a force for sustainable development.
