A summary of highlights from the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference

  1. Friday 16 June - Closing Session

  2. Day 11 marked the Closing Session of the 106th International Labour Conference, which ended with the historic adoption of the Recommendation of the Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience Recommendation, 2017.
  3. During the day, each of the Committees presented their reports to the Plenary Session. On Thursday afternoon, the Committee for Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work was the first to have its report adopted. On Friday morning, it was the turn of the Committee on Employment and Decent Work for the Transition to Peace.

  5. Next, the Plenary Session voted on the report of the Credentials Committee and the Committee on the Application of standards.

  7. Following the adoption of all Committee reports, the Conference President, Vice-Presidents and ILO Director-General Guy Ryder took the stage to commence the Closing Ceremony.
  8. Thursday 15 June - World of Work Summit

  9. The World of Work Summit opened Day 10 of the Internatoinal Labour Conference, bringing the delegates’ attention to the subject of “A better future for women at work” for a full day of the Conference. A morning discussion featured a panel of speakers representing the view points of both workers and employers. In the afternoon, three women heads of state took the floor to describe their experiences and provide the point of view of governments.
