Australia legalizes same-sex marriage.

A historic bill was passed in the Australian Parliament legalizing gay marriage on Thursday.

Approximately 12.7 million people participated in the national postal survey. The vote in Parliament was almost unanimos with only four MPs voting against the bill.

  11. Australia is now the 24th country in the world to allow same-sex marriage according to Pew research. Same-sex weddings will take place only after January due to the longstanding requirements. All Australian couples have to provide a full month's notice of their intention to get married.
