Conversations with Contemporary Artists: Gabriel Orozco and Benjamin Buchloh

On November 13, artist Gabriel Orozco joined Benjamin Buchloh, Harvard University, to discuss his artistic practice, presented in conjunction with the Deutsche Bank Series at the Guggenheim, Gabriel Orozco: Asterisms, on view from November 9, 2012–January 13, 2013.

  15. In arranging his current installation "Asterisms," #Orozco organized his objects first by type of object, then color and size.
  16. By definition, "Asterisms" is a group of stars. For his work, #Orozco intended to compose a sculptural constellation of objects.
  17. On the use of color in his work, #Orozco says it was not just an aesthetic decision, but rather scientific or taxonomic.
  18. In response to Buchloh's final question, #Orozco says photography has helped him visualize sculptural objects in more detail.
