An apple for teacher? Weird and wonderful gifts given by students
We asked our @GuardianTeach followers on Twitter to tell us about the gifts they have been given by students over the years. Here's a collection of the entertaining and often heart-warming responses
@GuardianTeach After my placement I got various bits including paracetamols in case they'd "given me a headache"!- @GuardianTeach I know, they also gave me some apple vodka shots& kindly reminded me not to mix them! Ha. Didn't dare say I hate apple vodka!
- @GuardianTeach My year 11 tutor group gave me a beautiful bouquet - best present ever! They even checked it wouldn't give me hay fever!
@GuardianTeach yup...think they were cost cutting the butter. Didn't realise until a bite!
@GuardianTeach @morphosaurus I received a "stressball" squeezy apple from my Physics class once :) great for gravity demonstrations.
@GuardianTeach an angry birds iPod dock and speaker from a year 13 ICT group this year - best present ever :-)
@GuardianTeach I got a fußball table and a 'where's stig' book. Sometimes you realise the kids know you too well.
@GuardianTeach My son took his teacher an apple on the first day of Kindergarten.
@GuardianTeach I have had some lovely gifts but the only apple I got was a stress ball one from my mum!

@GuardianTeach a tube of effervescent vitamin c. Think she'd heard about half-term teacher flu.- @GuardianTeach I have receieved my first apple this year! Year 3 boy in the autumn term gave it to me. I was chuffed!
- @GuardianTeach most unusual presents: voucher for a fish pedicure and a homemade sock puppet!
