NHS coping with unprofitable cases/failures of private care

Dr Andrew Dawes works in the NHS: this is an overview of recent referrals arising from failures of private care or disjointed care. Dr Dawes is apprehensive this may be an indication of the future of the NHS should the #NHSBill pass.

  1. My weeks experience of private healthcare: 1) infected liposuction told to go to A&E as private Co would not treat 1/6
  2. 2) private patient told to go to A&E as ECHO abnormal. No copy of ECHO given to A&E staff 2/6
  3. 3) private patient referred in by clinician for CT Head on NHS as didnt want to do it on private. 3/6
  4. 4) lady with breast implants done privately in Prague requesting replacement and follow up on NHS as unable to contact her old surgeon 4/6
  5. 5) 99yo with sepsis in resus - family want her transferred private as has insurance. Insurance Co decline as dont cover acute illness 5/6

  7. @silv24 Thanks! I think most people apathetic re #NHSbill as think they can afford &will get private style care. Sad truth is they wont
