Did Twitter Co-Founder Jack Dorsey Subtweet About Now-Vine-Rival Instagram?
Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey was reportedly heartbroken when Instagram sold to Facebook for $1 billion in April 2012. Less than a year and a reported $970 million later, Twitter bought Vine. Things are still getting interesting.
- Vine was always thought of as the "Instagram for video" since Instagram was "the king of mobile photos." Now, Facebook has added a video-sharing feature to its Instagram app, pivoting away from doing just one thing well. Is it a mistake that Instagram has decided to venture off into an entirely new realm of media?
During Facebook's grand event, Dorsey sent this (sub?)tweet:
- Whoa. Is that a reference to Instagram? Is that a reference to Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom who decided to sell his app to Mark Zuckerberg instead of Dorsey?
One might say, "How do you know Dorsey was referencing Instagram and/or Systrom?" I don't. But here are two tweets Dorsey faved today, one at the same time he sent the above tweet, and another seven minutes later:
- I'll let you decide what exactly is on Dorsey's mind today.
