Shooting spree at Batman movie changed lives forever

James Eagan Holmes, 24, opened fire at "The Dark Knight Rises" premiere in Aurora, killing 12 and wounding 70. Here are their faces and stories. The youngest victim was 6 years old and the oldest was 51.

  1. Definitively identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office are: Jessica Ghawi, Veronica Moser-Sullivan, John T. Larimer, Alexander J. Boik, Jesse E. Childress, Jonathan T. Blunk, Rebecca Wingo, Alex M. Sullivan, who was celebrating his 27th birthday at the movie, Gordon Cowden, Micayla Medek, Alexander Teves and Matthew McQuinn.

  2. Ashley Moser, 25, the hospitalized mother of  6-year-old Veronica Moser-Sullivan, "took it very badly" when she found out Saturday her daughter had been slain by James Eagan Holmes, a relative told the Boston Herald.

  3. A graduate of William C. Hinkley High School in Aurora, Micayla Medek, 23, took classes at Community College of Aurora through last fall.
  4. Jesse Childress, 29, lived in Thornton, and was one of two victims stationed at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora. The other was John Larimer, a sailor in the U.S. Navy.
  5. Matt McQuinn, 27, graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School in 2004. He died protecting his girlfriend, Samantha Yowler. They met while the two were working at a Target store in Springfield, according to the Dayton Daily News.
  6. Jessica Ghawi, 24, grew up a hockey fan in football-crazed Texas.
