The Princess Royal visits South Africa, 16 to 18 April
As part of this year's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Her Royal Highness undertook a number of official visits in South Africa, including Save the Children, Riding for the Disabled South Africa and a Diamond Jubilee service in Pretoria.
- Day 1: Johannesburg
- The Princess Royal arrived in South Africa at the start of a 3 day visit. HRH visited the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, the St John Eye Hospital, Save the Children Cotlands Turffontein Resource Centre and the Soweto Equestrian Foundation. In the evening HRH, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, attended a reception given by the British High Commissioner to commemorate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Pretoria.
- Day 2: Pretoria
- On the second day of the Royal visit, HRH called upon Mr. Kgalema Mothlanthe, the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, attended a church service and reception in St. Albans Anglican Cathedral and in the evening attended a Dinner given by the British High Commissioner in Cape Town.
- Day 3: Cape Town
- On the third and final day of her visit to South Africa, HRH visited Simon's Town Naval Base, Dido Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and Kwamfudo Secondary School, before leaving for the Republic of Mozambique.
