Planning Your Round the World Route

  1. 1.  What’s the most important consideration when planning your route for a RTW trip?

  2. A1: How little do I have to fly and how much can I travel by land #rtwchat
  3. A1: For our trip, we chose 5 must-see destinations that shaped our route. We then planned around those and our budget. #rtwchat
  4. @BootsnAll A1: for our #RTW adventure we are overly organized, but flexible & take into consideration locations with family/friends #RTWchat
  5. 2.  How does weather impact your route planning for a RTW trip?

  6. A2 I try to hit the same sort of weather together so I dont have to constantly change hoodies for bikinis in the backpack #rtwchat
  7. @BootsnAll A2: we are planning our #RTW trip during summer in South America to get the most sun out of our fun #RTWchat
  8. A2 We're Oregonians: we can handle rain & cold...but we aim for sunshine ;) #rtwchat
  9. A2. It should be a bigger consideration. Egypt in September wasn't fun. #travelfail #rtwchat
  10. @BootsnAll Something to consider. I don't mind rain but humidity. Nearly suffocated in BKK! Cold beer helps #rtwchat http://pic.twitter.com/uQQROVMp
  11. 3.  High season, low season, or shoulder season?  Why?

  12. A3 Prefer low season. Sometimes shoulder season means no season. #rtwchat
  13. A3: shoulder or low if you can for big tourist spots. High is fine for less popular places that won't have a major price hike#RTW #RTWchat
  14. A3: Shoulder for sure. Less people, better rates, and still great weather #rtwchat
  15. A3 shoulder, quieter, but still able to experience it. Not too busy or quiet, not too expensive but things are still open! #rtwchat
  16. We loved low-season Croatia: €18 rooms & clear beaches twooregonians.com/2012/06/apartm… RT @BootsnAll Q3 High, low, or shoulder season? Why? #rtwchat
  17. 4.  RTW plane ticket or point to point?  Why?

  18. A4 We paid cash for miles to purchase Star Alliance RTW tickets: super-cheap. Savings made it worth it. Otherwise, point to point #rtwchat
  19. A4: Point to point, but you should travel by land as much as possible. Infinitely more interesting than flying. #rtwchat
  20. A4. Depends. I had a ticket for the main stops with lots of point to points in between. #rtwchat
  21. A4: RTW tickets are great with rebooking. buy supplemental flights along the way if you need. #rtwchat
  22. 5.  What continents do you plan on visiting?

  23. A5: South Am, Europe, Mid East, Asia, Aus/NZ, North Am. Still need to get to Africa! Next time.... #rtwchat
