#PINCamp

Campers join together to discuss all things Public Insight Network - innovate, test, create, learn, play

  1. Let the camping begin...

  2. Why PIN:

  3. collaboration internally is essential to pulling off great content informed by communities #PINCamp
  4. Talking about how @publicinsight can remind journalists -- who we talk to & who we listen to really matters...it defines our work #PINCamp
  5. Great day at #PINcamp with @publicinsight. Love this mix o @ Minnesota Public Radio - American Public Media instagr.am/p/Kqqae5OVDY/
  6. Lots of discussion around the notion of digital and how to incorporate all of its joys and possibilities (and sometimes perils) into newsrooms. There's the old-guard journalists standing staunchly against experimentation. There's those of us working with PIN and other digital tools who believe that engagement can happen on many platforms and in many ways. So if we want to
  7. Meet people where they are --- preferred language, location, platform. #pincamp
  8. then we have to wrestle with the journalism digital conundrum (the non-article, audio quality, tools playing together, etc.):
  9. Digital may be changing the standards for radioworthy audio. Does intimate human storytelling trump audio quality? @katemoos #pincamp
  10. In #pubmedia, we hv unfortunate tendency to worship audio @ expense of good stories. Sometimes msg trumps method! #pincamp
  11. $64,000 #PINCamp question: "Can you do an story in short busts via @twitter featuring an arc, characters & engagement?" #journalism
  12. Today's #PINcamp will feature many Tumblr sites, prompting discussion about taking traffic away from news sites at expense of social sharing
  13. Sarah Alvarez- the nonarticle is the transparent conversation that can develop into deeper reporting. #pincamp
  14. Why PIN, redux:

  15. "Media targeted AT you but doesn't INCLUDE you might not be worth sitting for." #PINCAMP
  16. RT @public_lee: "Media targeted AT you but doesn't INCLUDE you might not be worth sitting for." #PINCAMP "We say - "Think Audience First!"
  17. I got into this work to change this MT @public_lee: "Media targeted AT you but doesn't INCLUDE you might not be worth sitting for." #PINCAMP
  18. Let's learn to live and create in these empty white spaces - where we can engage sources pre-publishing and engage journalists post-publication:
  19. Powerful 2x2 from @mayerjoy: untapped potential engaging sources pre-pub & journos post-pub. #pincamp http://pic.twitter.com/wZrBhrgP
  20. S'mores!

  21. 1st work conference I've been to that breaks for SMORES. (They were wonderful.) Only in Minnesota. Only @ #PINCAMP.
