    27 Sep, 2016
  4. Community members and AGL customers protested outside AGL Energy’s Melbourne offices today, the day before the energy giant’s AGM in Sydney.

Activists held a symbolic tug of war, in front of a banner reading “AGL cut your ties with coal - tug towards renewables” and handed out out an alternative AGL annual report, illustrating the company’s true colours when it comes to the environment.

  8. AGL's GREENWASHING HUNG OUT TO DRY

    20 Sep, 2016
  9. Protestors performed a creative stunt outside AGL's Sydney offices to expose the greenwashing that our biggest climate polluter undertakes daily. Marketing itself as a clean company, AGL is lying to its customers and the Australian community while planning to burn coal until 2050.

  11. AGL STARTS TO FEEL THE HEAT IN MELBOURNE

    14 Sep, 2016
  12. The campaign to see AGL ditch coal and gas by 2025 has kicked off in Melbourne!

Two weeks ago our staff survey team engaged with AGL staff outside their docklands office and handed out cards with a link to a staff survey. The survey has a variety of questions about what staff think of AGL’s somewhat lacklustre performance in transitioning to renewable energy sources. About 70% of staff took the cards – a great result.

Wednesday of the following week our team turned up again, but this time, no-one was taking the cards. In fact, staff seemed to be avoiding us…

After a quick chat with the security guards standing out the front the reason became clear: AGL management had sent out a memo telling staff not to talk to us. Well done AGL!

It is amazing that a few ordinary people handing out little cards can get a big company so worried.

Days later, posters and stickers started popping up all around Melbourne shining a light on the fact that AGL is Australia’s biggest climate polluter.
  13. If AGL don’t get with the times and ditch coal and gas by 2025, community actions like this will just keep getting bigger and bolder.

We are heading back to the office tomorrow to see if can convince a few staff members to tell us what they really think about AGL's plans to keep pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere until 2050. Wish us luck!

You can see the banned staff survey here: aglstaffsurvey.com/.
  14. If you know any AGL staff, please share it with them and encourage them to fill it out!
  15. Stay tuned for the next instalment.
  16. ACTION AT BRISBANE CONVENTION CENTRE

    8 Sep, 2016
  17. Our volunteers pulled off an action at the Brisbane Convention Centre, where CEO of AGL - Andy Vesey was speaking. AGL talks the talk, but plans to burn coal until 2050. Not only is AGL Australia’s single largest polluter, but its carbon emissions increased more than 92% in 2014-2015 and the company continues to invest in the fossil fuels that are destroying our climate, communities and ecosystems.
